January 2013 Meeting – Summer Opportunities for Gifted Kids – Monday January 14, 2013 – 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Please join us for our January meeting:
Monday January 14, 2013 – 6:30-8:00 p.m.
at the Shepard Center, 873 Walcutt Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43219 (MAPS)

Join fellow parents of gifted students, and guests, as we discuss Summer Opportunities for Gifted Kids!

It may be cold outside now, but the time to plan for summer break is upon us!

This popular P.A.C.E. roundtable discussion is a perennial favorite to help begin the planning process for summer camp season! Bring your best ideas to share and hear from seasoned veteran parents and C.C.S. representatives about tried and true summer enrichment opportunities!

As always, there will be time for sharing other triumphs and concerns, as we follow our mission. We will have a report on the status of the Gifted Education Task Force as well.

We will have child care at this meeting. Your child is welcome to bring a favorite book or game – or homework!

We are a community of parents, grandparents, guardians and families working to help gifted children shine. We know the frustrations, the joys and the intensity of raising a gifted child and we support all those who are on this difficult and wonderful journey.

The latest Flyer is available on the Resources page, in case you want to share with a friend — or make a new friend!

April 2012 Meeting – Enrichment Beyond the Classroom

April 2012 Meeting: Enrichment Beyond the Classroom

Please join us for our April meeting:
Monday April 23, 2012 – 6:30-8:00 p.m.
at the Shepard Center, 873 Walcutt Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43219 (MAPS)

Join fellow parents of gifted students for a meeting at the Shepard Center about enrichment options. Find out about summer opportunities and subject areas not covered in the classroom. You are encouraged to bring your own suggestions to share.

At this meeting we will also be looking ahead to next year, with election of officers for next year.
You might ask: why choose next year’s officers now?
… That is because before the first meeting of 2012-2013 there is much planning and work to do. The officers join with the all important Steering Committee to make all the good things happen. Steering will meet this summer to map out next year — and periodically throughout the year. (Participants in Steering benefit not only the students they parent, but all the gifted and talented students in the district – and even perhaps beyond. Steering people learn how things work, who to talk to, and how to get things done. This can be a very satisfying experience!
While Steering Committee is unelected, it is the most important group in P.A.C.E.
Please consider joining in the Steering Committee!
Please advise officers of your interest in Steering us through 2012-2013.

We will have child care at this meeting. Please have your child bring a favorite book or game – or homework.

Summer Fair goes Virtual for 2010

Summer Fair goes Virtual!

Sadly, we are unable to have the Summer Opportunities Fair as a “Big Event” at Franklin Park this year. We have encountered two difficulties, either one of which alone could have killed the event. First, we have had a hard time recruiting all the volunteers to pull off such a major undertaking. Then we found that in the present economic environment past sponsors were reluctant to provide funding.

But, fear not! For out of adversity comes opportunity! The Summer Opportunities Fair has been transmuted into the

P.A.C.E. Virtual Summer Opportunities Fair.

If you need help with summer, you are in luck. Just visit: summer.ColumbusPACE.org.

This resource will provide an ongoing listing of summer opportunities, with “Exhibitors” having the opportunity to continually update their information. Please be sure to check on it as it develops. (You will be able to follow developments via RSS or email subscription, in addition to visiting the site!)
