P.A.C.E. Open House Sept 12th

The Parents for Academic Challenge and Enrichment (P.A.C.E.) are pleased to announce the 2011 Open House scheduled for Monday, September 12th, 6:30pm at the Shepard Center.   The topic of this year’s Open House is ‘Preparing for a good school year’.   As parents of gifted children our goal is to provide each of you with information, opportunities to discuss the challenges and joy of raising our children.  We are fortunate that Columbus City Schools offers a gifted program.   In partnership with the district’s gifted and talented department, we will provide you with resources to support and develop our gifted children.  The link below provides more information regarding our September and October meetings. http://www.columbuspace.org/upcoming-meetings-and-events .

Successful Enrichment Fair

The 2011 Enrichment Fair was held on Monday, April 11th at the Downtown High School.  The event was a success.  There were 50 to 60 parents and students that participated in the event.  Columbus City Schools (CCS) Superintendent, Dr. Harris provided opening remarks that were encouraging, strong, direct and sincere.  She highlighted the efforts of the district to provide not only the state required identification of gifted students, but the service of those students from identification to graduation. She is dedicated to ensuring every CCS students is educated and prepared to become strong future leaders.

Presentations were made by the Educational Services Center of Central Ohio, Rita Glavan highlighting the challenges of raising a gifted child.  Parents were provided more information regarding the Future Problem Solvers program, Rush Rogers.  The evenings final presentation was made by the Gifted and Talented department featuring students providing testimony of their experiences.

Many children enjoyed the hands-on educational acitivities provided at the fair. Parents were able to talk wth the CCS gifted and talented staff admiring their displays of student work at the Elementary (featuring ECLIPSE), Middle and High School levels.   Summer opportunities information was provided by numerous vendors offering residential and day camp experiences. 

According to survey results (35 collected),  94% received the information they expected, 100% rated the displays as excellent or good and 97% would attend a future enrichment fair.

P.A.C.E looks forward to a continuing strong partnership with Columbus City Schools parents, teachers and administrators to ensure our children receive the best educational experiences and opportunities.

Reminder, Enrichment Fair, April 11th 6-8pm

We look forward to parents, guardians, family and students at the Monday, April 11th enrichment fair being held at the Downtown High School, 364 S. Fourth Street.

We will have displays and artifacts from the Elementary, ECLIPSE, Middle and High Shool programs, many vendors with information regarding summer opporutunitities, a resourse room and a hands-on educational ativity room.

Come learn more about the gifted and talent deparment, meet educators and specialists manaing the gifted and talented program.

2011 Enrichment Fair – Monday, April 11th, 6-8 p.m.

PACE and Columbus City School present the 2011 Enrichment Fair.

The Columbus Parents for Academic Challenge and Enrichment (P.A.C.E.) volunteer group is hosting an Enrichment Fair Monday, April 11th, 6-8pm at the Downtown High School in Columbus.  Parents, guardians, and families of children within the Columbus City Schools are welcome to participate. The event will highlight the gifted and talented programs within the district along with offerings of summer program opportunities.  Come see what the Columbus City Schools is doing to service the gifted and talented students.  P.A.C.E. is excited to work with such a marvelous staff dedicated to supporting gifted and talented students throughout the district.  For more information contact Debra White-Johnson, PACE Treasurer at // .

The Parents for Academic Challenge and Enrichment (P.A.C.E.) are pleased to announce that Virtual Summer Opportunities Fair continues in 2011.  Information can be found regarding many vendors throughout Ohio offering residential and day camp experiences to your children.

The Virtual Summer Opportunities Fair continues to feature additions and updates year round – though most are posted in a timely manner for the upcoming camp season.

Gifted and Talented Services Questionnaire

Administered by Parents for Academic Challenge and Enrichment.  It is critical to have the best, most effective programs and services for our gifted and talented children. We want your feedback regarding the activities and programs your gifted student is receiving in the Columbus City Schools. 

A link to the electronic Questionnaire is below. Submissions will be analyzed, compiled and reported by P.A.C.E. and presented to the Columbus City Schools.

All parents of Columbus City School students are welcome to participate.  However, our target audience are parents of those students that have been identified as gifted and talented by the Columbus City Schools.  Your feedback is very important and will be utilized during discussions with the Columbus City Schools Leadership and their Gifted and Talented staff.
